PREFACE 
This course represents an archeo-anthropological and paleo-environmental research project. Goals and objectives of this interdisciplinary endeavor focus on multi prismatic aspects of the human condition / ecology through time-that is both during prehistoric and recent antiquity, as well as in the contemporary mosaics of cultural and environmental milieus. The inter- and trans-disciplinary nature of this project implicates the participation of specialists from a wide range of supporting fields. Work is performed in the field and the field-laboratory, hence, ranging from geological and archeological surveys to full archaeological excavations.

PROJECT LOCATION
Eleftherna site in Rethymno – at the historic mountainous village of Eleftherna. The sanctuary of the heroes at Orthi Petra dates to the 9th c. B.C./B.C.E., the Proto-Geometric time period.
