The course introduces various kinds of drawing
and painting, using a variety of techniques. Theory in the visual
arts will be offered as well as the praxis and laboratory in drawing
and painting. The use of line, value, color, from, shape, texture,
pattern and composition will be explored.
Drawing media to be introduced will be pencil, charcoal, oil
pastels, colored pencils, and others on a variety of papers. The
experience of drawing from still life, landscape, and portrait will
be covered from the perspective of the Hellenic Arts and a
contemporary approach to drawing.
Painting will be introduced with watercolor and acrylic painting on
canvas and paper. The basic techniques will be discussed through
projects and assignments in and outside the classroom setting. The
still life, landscape, and portrait in paint will be covered from
the perspective of the Hellenic Arts and a contemporary approach to
painting also.
